Why Small Batch Milk Tastes So Good

Healthy cows make tasty milk.
At Crescent Ridge Dairy, our milk comes from our friends at Howrigan Family Farm in Vermont (and members of the St. Albans Cooperative Creamery). This 5th generation, award-winning family farm grows its own corn and hay, and even has its own spring water, which is perfect considering they have 500 Holsteins to care for. We pay a premium to get their best, highest-quality milk. But it’s worth it. Because we feel better knowing our milk comes from healthy, happy cows. And none of our milk comes from cows that have been given artificial growth hormones (rBST free).*

We never skim on taste.
Loaded with calcium, vitamins and essential nutrients, milk is great for building strong bones and teeth, healthy muscles and can even help you sleep better. But when it comes to taste, the cream is what makes it really good. It makes you wonder why big milk companies skim the cream out. (Can you believe they even skim their "whole" milk?) At Crescent Ridge, our Whole Milk is never skimmed. In fact, it’s got about 20% more cream than what federal minimums say we could get away with labeling as whole milk. So you get all the cream—and all the full, rich taste.

Even our 2% and 1% Milk starts as creamy whole milk. Working one small batch at a time, we slowly blend in super-premium non-fat milk to make the richest 2% and 1% Milk you’ve ever tasted. Crafting milk like this takes a lot of time and effort. But when you’re passionate about making the finest quality milk, it’s the only way to do it.

Because plastic tastes like plastic.
After all this care and attention, the last thing we’d do is put our milk in plastic containers. At Crescent Ridge, we use nothing but good, old-fashioned glass bottles. Not only are they better for the environment—they’re better for the taste buds, too, because all you taste is pure, delicious milk. And we bottle just 2,000 gallons of milk a day, taking the time to inspect every batch, to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.

Delivered fresh to your door.
If you ask us, milk was never meant to sit on a supermarket shelf. That’s why, every day at 4:00a.m., our milkmen pack up the trucks with cold Crescent Ridge Milk and deliver it right to our customers’ doors. There’s no better way to ensure every bottle is handled with care, and arrives tasting just as fresh as it did when it left the farm. One sip and you’ll understand why so many people tell us they’ll never drink mass-produced, store-bought milk again.
